Egypt’s EOS launches motor registration platform

The Egyptian Organisation for Standardisation & Quality (EOS) launched an electronic platform to register both imported and locally manufactured high-efficiency electric motors, as per a Cabinet statement on Thursday.

These remarks were made during the launch of the new platform, which complies with the Egyptian standard E.S.S. 2623-3/2023 for high-efficiency electric motors, in line with the latest international standard (IEC 60034-30-1).

The platform maintains an updated list of motors that meet the highest energy efficiency standards (IE Code), including both imported and locally produced motors, to prevent low-efficiency products from entering the Egyptian market.

Khaled Soufi, Head of the EOS, stated that the platform offers feasibility studies for transitioning to energy-efficient motors, including profitability estimates and environmental impact assessments.

This initiative seeks to boost the competitiveness of Egyptian industries by cutting energy consumption, reducing production costs, and enhancing export opportunities, according to the statement.
