Egypt’s Tax Authority (ETA) signed a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB) to strengthen tax trust, support investors, and encourage compliance among startups and small businesses, the authority said.
Rasha Abdel Aal, head of the ETA, highlighted the importance of youth and their projects for the economy, emphasising that the state sees young entrepreneurs as crucial for economic growth.
The protocol aims to create a balanced tax environment, simplify procedures for taxpayers, and address challenges facing young entrepreneurs.
A joint committee will meet regularly to review issues, provide guidance, and ensure transparency, while the authority will conduct seminars, workshops, and awareness campaigns on the latest tax developments.
Abdel Alal highlighted the advantages of the streamlined tax system for companies earning less than EGP20 million annually. Mohamed Abu Basha, EJB head, stated that its 400 members across various startup and SME sectors are keen to utilise the system and work with the Authority to tackle issues affecting young entrepreneurs.
