Egypt’s exports up in Dec. ’24

Egypt’s exports rose 9.6 per cent to $3.96 billion in December 2024 from $3.61 billion in the same month a year earlier, as per a report published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Tuesday.

This increase was driven by higher exports of key commodities, including petroleum products (up 128.5 per cent), fresh fruits (up 23.4 per cent), ready-made garments (up 17.6 per cent), and pasta and food preparations (up 37.1 per cent).

However, some exports saw a decline, including fertilisers (-47.6 per cent), crude oil (-66.2 per cent), dry legumes (-3.5 per cent), and furniture (-6.0 per cent), according to the statement.

The report highlighted that the trade balance deficit rose to $4.15 billion in December 2024, up from $3.67 billion in the same month of the previous year, reflecting a 13.0 per cent increase.
