Egypt’s exports rose 24.1 per cent year-on-year in February 2025 to $4.43 billion, up from $3.57 billion in the same month last year, the state statistics agency CAPMAS said on Monday.
The trade deficit narrowed by 29.1 per cent to $2.33 billion, compared to $3.28 billion in February 2024.
The increase in exports was driven by higher shipments of key products, including ready-made garments (up 30.6 per cent), petroleum products (up 12.2 per cent), food items (up 9.3 per cent), and plastics (up 3.4 per cent), according to the report.
However, the data also showed declines in some categories, with exports of fresh fruits falling 9.9 per cent, fertilisers down 17.2 per cent, potatoes down 5.2 per cent, and wires tumbling 32.3 per cent.
