Egypt’s exports surged 20.7 per cent year-on-year in March 2025 to $4.62 billion, up from $3.82 billion in the same month last year, the state statistics agency CAPMAS said on Monday.
The country’s trade deficit narrowed by 38.6 per cent to $2.50 billion in March, compared to $4.09 billion in the same month last year.
The increase in exports was driven by higher shipments of petroleum products (up 6.3 per cent), ready-made garments (27.7 per cent), food preparations (19.5 per cent), and dried legumes (35.2 per cent).
However, the data showed declines in some categories, including fresh fruits (down 17.3 per cent), fertilisers (9.9 per cent), plastics in primary forms (3.1 per cent), and potatoes (15.2 per cent).
