Egypt’s FHIC pumped 178,000 T of sugar in October: supply minister

Egyptian Food Industries Holding Company (FHIC)  has injected 178,000 tonnes of sugar since the beginning of October until now, Supply Minister Mohamed Ali El-Sheikh announced Sunday.

He added that the ministry has recently pumped around 9,000 tonnes of sugar daily instead of 4,000 tonnes to meet citizens’ needs.

Supply ministry continues providing sugar for citizens through its mobile vehicles among the plan of injecting 50,000 tonnes to cover citizens’ needs.

Within the last few days, Egyptian supply ministry contracted on importing 134,300 tonnes of sugar to be provided for citizens next November, El-Sheikh noted.

Moreover, Minister El-Sheikh asserted that the ministry is working on implementing a plan to secure a reserve of strategic commodities for coming six months.
