Egypt’s Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk aims to enhance collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) to improve policies and financing for inclusive growth, as per the ministry’s statement.
He emphasised that integrating sustainable financing into debt management and fiscal policies can attract more investments, thereby supporting economic development goals, according to the statement.
The minister made these remarks during a bilateral meeting with Rola Dashti, executive secretary of ESCWA, on the sidelines of the preparatory meetings for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in New York.
He added that Egypt is leveraging ESCWA’s expertise to develop strategies focused on sustainability and enhancing debt management. He noted that innovative programmes like debt-for-investment swaps in local currency can regulate fiscal policies and expand fiscal space.
