Egypt exported 5,930 food shipments totalling 243,000 tons to 186 countries during the week of 28 February to 6 March 2026, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said in its 9th weekly report of the year on Sunday.
According to the NFSA, the shipments were handled by 1,346 exporting companies and covered 744 food products, including fruits, vegetables, tubers, processed fruit and vegetable products, flour, cereals, and other food items.
Fruits accounted for 90,000 tons of exports. Citrus fruits led with 70,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 15,000 tons, and assorted other fruits totalling 5,000 tons.
Vegetable exports totalled 66,000 tons, with potatoes topping the list at 35,000 tons, followed by sweet potatoes and frozen mixed vegetables at 7,000 tons each.
The largest recipients of Egyptian food exports last week were Saudi Arabia, Russia, Syria, Sudan, and the Netherlands, according to the report.
