Egypt’s food exports hit 266,000 tons in a week – NFSA

Egypt exported 266,000 tons of food products in the week of 4-10 April, spanning more than 5,500 shipments, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said in its weekly report on Sunday.
The shipments were issued by 1,515 exporting companies and covered 762 food product types, including fruits, vegetables, grains, flour products, and processed food items.
Citrus fruits led exports with 78,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 16,000 tons and other fruits at 6,000 tons, the report said. Overall fruit exports reached 100,000 tons across 40 varieties.
Vegetable exports totalled 70,000 tons across 46 varieties, with potatoes accounting for the largest share at 36,000 tons, followed by sweet potatoes at 7,000 tons and onions at 6,000 tons.
Egyptian food exports reached 192 countries during the week, with Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, the Netherlands, and Jordan among the top destinations, the authority added.
