Egypt’s food exports show mixed growth in H1’25 – FEC

Egypt’s food industry exports recorded a varied performance across major international markets in the first half of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024, according to a statement from the Food Export Council (FEC) on Tuesday.

Arab countries remained the top destination, importing $1.577 billion worth of Egyptian food products, accounting for 47 per cent of total exports, though showing a slight decline of four per cent from H1 2024.

The European Union (EU) followed with $715 million, representing 21 per cent of exports and a two per cent increase from $699 million a year earlier, as stated in the announcement.

Exports to non-Arab African countries reached $249 million, up 9 per cent from $228 million in 2024, while shipments to the United States surged 47 per cent to $230 million, compared with $156 million a year ago. Other markets imported $585 million worth of Egyptian goods, accounting for 18 per cent of exports, up from $452 million in H1 2024.

The growth in exports to the US, non-Arab African countries, and other markets reflects the diversification of Egypt’s food export destinations and the sector’s increasing ability to expand internationally.
