Egypt’s Govt Cloud Computing to Launch this Year with EGP25mln: Minister

Egyptian Information and Communication Technology Minister Atef Helmy revealed that the government will roll out broadband strategy project for cloud computing worth EGP25 million before the end of the current year.

Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad on Tuesday, Helmy explained that the project aims to launch cloud for hosting governmental services and the government agreed to pump EGP25 million.

It will be finalised the offering of the project within days as a broadband project before the announcement of the huge investment plan that estimated at EGP18 billion, expecting that the project will be in partnership between the public and private (PPP) sectors so that Egypt will transit into global center for hosting storage capacities that based on Egypt’s geographical location and make the best use of submarine cables which  pass through Egypt and amounts to 18 cables with an area of 160 thousand meters a global hub.
