Egypt’s grain production totaled 23.7 million tons during the 2022/2023 agricultural year, marking a 1.4 per cent increase from the previous year, primarily driven by a significant 44.8 per cent rise in rice production.
As a result, Egypt’s average per capita consumption of grain rose to 300.7 kilograms in the 2022/2023 agricultural year, up from 296.6 kilograms in the previous year, as per a data from the CAPMAS on Wednesday.
However, global grain production reached 2.81 billion metric tons in 2022/2023, a 0.2 per cent drop from the previous year, with average amount consumed per person falling from 151.5 kilograms in 2021/2022 to 151.2 kilograms in 2022/2023.
