Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting on Tuesday with President of the Italian Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (Farmindustria) Marcello Cattani to discuss expanding cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.
The talks focused on strengthening investment ties, localising drug and vaccine manufacturing in Egypt, and supporting exports to regional and international markets. Both sides explored opportunities for knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and capacity building to enhance domestic production.
Abdel Ghaffar underlined the importance of public-private collaboration and highlighted Egypt’s qualified workforce and technical capabilities, positioning the country as a strategic partner for Italy—a global leader in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The minister also instructed relevant authorities to streamline logistical and administrative procedures and agreed with the Italian side to draft a joint marketing strategy to promote Egyptian pharmaceutical products locally and abroad.
