Egypt’s ministry of health signed a memorandum of understanding on Sunday with e-Finance to implement electronic payment services across the ministry and its affiliated bodies, including hospitals and government authorities.
The agreement aims to streamline fee collection for public health services through digital channels, improve transparency, and enhance efficiency in financial management, the ministry said.
The system will link the ministry’s internal platforms with Egypt’s central e-payment and collection system, enabling real-time reconciliation and secure electronic transactions. The initiative is part of Egypt’s wider effort to expand digital payment services, in line with Law No. 18 of 2019 on non-cash payments and national financial inclusion strategies.
Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said the project will ease transactions for citizens using ministry services and is already being piloted in the Central Administration for Non-Governmental Treatment Institutions and licensing services.
The MoU also covers technical support, cybersecurity measures, and daily reporting to ensure smooth operations across the country, the statement added.
