Egypt’s Health Min. reviews corporate insurance dues

Egypt’s Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar chaired a meeting to follow up on the status of company and economic authority contributions to the Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA), the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the establishment of controls and mechanisms to govern private-sector contributions, aligning with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly’s directives for financial sustainability and balance in the health insurance system.

The meeting discussed the payment status of ministry affiliates, as well as the current contribution levels from economic bodies under the system. It also covered proposals for addressing outstanding payments owed by some organisations.

The meeting considered several measures, including auditing and scheduling overdue contributions, and establishing incentive programmes for companies and entities that are compliant with payment requirements.
