Egypt’s Health Min. reviews quality of services

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, instructed the activation of the committee tasked with the immediate update of drug lists in accordance with evolving treatment protocols.

The directive was issued during a meeting with the Universal Health Insurance Authority and the Healthcare Authority to evaluate the quality of healthcare services across governorates covered by the Universal Health Insurance system.

The meeting also focused on ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare to beneficiaries, particularly during the transition from the old system to the new universal coverage framework.

Abdel Ghaffar stressed the importance of promptly responding to citizens’ needs and regularly reviewing service packages to guarantee comprehensive access to medical services, medicines, and supplies.

The discussions further addressed operational challenges facing the system and explored mechanisms to resolve them. The meeting also reviewed progress on establishing a prosthetics manufacturing complex aimed at localising production in Egypt. These devices will be included in the services covered under the Universal Health Insurance system.
