Egypt’s Health Ministry, Al-Azhar sign public health awareness protocol

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has signed a cooperation protocol with Al-Azhar aimed at boosting joint efforts in health awareness and supporting national public health initiatives.

The agreement covers nationwide awareness campaigns in mosques, schools, community centres, media outlets, and social media platforms.

The campaigns will promote early disease detection, prevention of chronic and hereditary illnesses, smoking cessation, healthy diets, and regular exercise.

The protocol also supports initiatives such as premarital health screening, early detection of hereditary diseases in newborns, and screening for chronic conditions, cancers, kidney disease, and hearing loss, alongside programmes targeting women’s and children’s health and tackling malnutrition in schools.

It further includes joint medical convoys across governorates, training workshops for doctors and preachers to unify health and religious messages, as well as exchanging expertise, publishing awareness materials, and forming a joint committee to monitor implementation and performance.
