Egypt’s Housing Min., China’s CSCEC discuss joint projects

Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif El Sherbiny met on Tuesday in Beijing with Chairman of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) Zheng Xuexuan, the Egyptian Cabinet reported. The meeting tackled the progress of joint projects, including the Central Business District in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) and the Downtown Towers in New Alamein City.

Furthermore, the two sides also discussed CSCEC’s latest expertise in operations and maintenance ahead of launching the Central Business District, as well as opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation under the strategic Egypt-China partnership.

El Sherbiny affirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting CSCEC’s operations and expressed interest in expanding the company’s investments across prime locations in Egypt, particularly in industrial zones within new cities.

The minister also proposed forming a strategic alliance between CSCEC and the Arab Contractors, one of Egypt’s key state-run construction firms, to undertake projects across Africa.

CSCEC’s chairman highlighted the group’s specialised subsidiary in tower operations and maintenance, expressing interest in expanding cooperation with the Housing Ministry not only for the New Capital but for other key developments as well.
