Egypt’s Housing Min. reviews progress of Diarna project

Egypt’s Housing Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny on Thursday inspected the Diarna middle-income housing project in New October City, stressing the importance of speeding up construction and ensuring ongoing field monitoring to address housing demands.

The project covers 23 cities under the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), targeting around 60,000 units across 2,310 buildings. The first phase comprises 23,842 units, with progress reaching 35 per cent in some cities, led by New October City.

Mohamed Abdel-Maqsoud, head of New October City Development Authority, said 494 units are under construction, achieving roughly 51 per cent completion since the project’s launch in April 2025.

Abdel-Maqsoud noted that New October City, a fourth-generation city founded in 2017, is experiencing significant housing growth. This includes 151,080 low-income units, 599 Green Housing buildings, and 4,236 completed units in the Housing for all Egyptian project.

These efforts reflect the ministry’s strategy to provide modern, fully serviced housing units and support comprehensive urban development for current and future generations, the statement added.
