Egypt’s housing minister reviews progress on Maspero Triangle

Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El Sherbiny, and Cairo Governor, Ibrahim Saber, chaired a meeting to discuss the development of the Maspero Triangle area, according to the Cabinet’s statement.

El Sherbiny highlighted that the Maspero Towers Project includes a basement parking area of 19,220 m² with a capacity for 353 cars, a ground floor commercial space of 16,970 m², and a first-floor parking area of 15,800 m² with space for 280 cars.

The project comprises two towers for alternative housing with 936 units already allocated to eligible residents, a third tower with 134 units over 23 floors, and a fourth administrative tower featuring a basement, ground floor commercial space, and 15 typical floors.

The minister also provided updates on the Nile Towers Project within Maspero, which includes three 30-story residential towers containing 774 units of varying sizes.

The towers feature a suspended structure starting from the 26th floor, connecting all three. The towers rest on a base that incorporates commercial, administrative, and recreational facilities across three floors.

El Sherbiny emphasised the ministry’s collaboration with Cairo Governorate and the Urban Development Fund (UDF) to develop unsafe areas, including the Maspero Triangle, and the ongoing efforts to revitalise Khedivial Cairo as part of a broader strategy to restore the historical, cultural, and urban significance of the capital.

The meeting also reviewed the execution status of the Nile-front towers and the compensation options for previous residents of the area.
