Egypt’s Housing Minister Holds Meeting With Cooperative Societies Over Sector’s Challenges

Dr. Tarek Wafiq, Egypt’s Housing and Urban Communities Minister, will be holding a lengthy meeting on Tuesday with Dr.Hossam Rizk- Chairman of Construction and Housing Cooperatives Authority – to discuss the contribution of the country’s housing cooperatives societies in order to solve the major problems this crucial sector encounters. 

The meeting is scheduled to discuss the amendments on the Cooperative Housing Act alongside its regulations, which would work on organizing the respective roles of the various cooperative societies, the Central Cooperative Housing and the Construction and Housing Cooperatives Authority in which the latter would perform as the regulator and observer of the sector. 
Dr. Wafiq ordered to form a ministerial Committee in last October to evaluate the performance of cooperative systems along with prepare proposals to promote them.
