Eng. Atef Helmy, Egypt’s Information and Communication Technology Minister, said the cost of establishing IT Plaza project estimated at EGP 45 billion, pointing out that it will finalize the second phase of the project within the coming July.
The Minister has emphasized during the meeting of Canada Egypt Business Council (CEBC) today as it was coordinating with experts from Canda to implement technology centers project, pointing out that the aim of the project is developing the ICT sector as well as make hub internet ,develop broadband services, and to make the best use of marine cables throughout enhancing cloud computing.
Helmy said it is expected for the ICT sector to achieve growth rates ranging between 6 to 10 % within the next year.
Helmy added that there will be a technological map in Ismalia, interest for technology and services in Suez Canal which will be a strong return on the Egyptian economy within the next period, especially that ICT sector is growing greatly in Egypt, in addition it will witness a boom during the coming period.
Helmy has explained that EGP 7 billion allocated for developing broadband services and EGP 15 billion for developing internet and submarine cable services.
