Egypt’s imports of yellow corn fell by around 25 per cent year on year (YoY) in 2023 to reach 6.3 million tonnes, down from 8.3 million tonnes, according to media reports on Thursday.
This drop came due to the foreign currency shortage, as Egypt imports all its needs of corn required for the fodder industry, vice chairman of Egyptian Poultry Association (EPA), Tharwat El Zeiny told reporters.
El Zeiny also said that this drop affected the prices of fodders needed for developing the livestock industry.
