Egypt’s industrial index up to 112.55 in July ’24
Egypt’s manufacturing and transformational industries experienced a significant increase in July, the index, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, rose to 112.55 (initial), against 109.55 in June, a substantial improve of 2.74 per cent.
Among the economic activities showing growth was the textile industry that rose to 195.71 in July 2024, up from 149.46 in June, reflecting a 30.94 per cent increase driven by market demand.
Similarly, the rubber and plastics industry recorded a notable increase with an index of 80.94 in July, compared to 63.80 in June, indicating a growth of 26.87 per cent due to heightened market demand.
Conversely, certain sectors faced declines during the same period. In July, the tobacco products industry index dropped to 108.26 from 126.70 in June 2024, a 14.56 per cent decrease.
