Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib participated in the opening session of the Raisina Dialogue 2025, emphasising Egypt’s economic transformation and deepening ties with India.
Speaking at the Raisina Ideas Pod session, Minister El-Khatib underscored the importance of Global South cooperation and Egypt’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with emerging economies, particularly India. He highlighted Egypt’s structural reforms aimed at improving the business climate, attracting investment, and achieving sustainable growth, while also addressing global economic challenges such as financial volatility and protectionist policies.
Minister El-Khatib positioned Egypt as a key investment hub in Africa, citing its strategic location, modern infrastructure – including the Suez Canal and industrial zones – and extensive free trade agreements granting access to over 1.3 billion African consumers.
The Egyptian Minister also emphasised growing economic ties with India, pointing to opportunities in energy security, manufacturing, technology, and logistics. Welcoming Indian investment in renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and smart agriculture, he highlighted Egypt’s attractive investment environment supported by ongoing economic and legislative reforms.
Moreover, Minister El-Khatib reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to regional integration and investment expansion, stressing that increased cooperation with India will drive mutual economic growth and strategic development.
