The tourism is an easily influenced industry, as the political climate and the current incidents possibly impact it. Hence, supporting the tourism sector is a joint responsibility between the government and the citizens, said Dr Hesham Kandil, Egypt’s Prime Minister.
This was Kandil’s answer to a citizen who was asking about how to make Egypt one of the global tourist destinations in 2013, and the government’s plan to get out of this crisis, in the framework of “Ask the Prime Minister” initiative through the social networks.
The government, since it has came to the office, is taking a bunch of procedures to support the tourism, like re-operating the Nile cruise tours between Cairo and Aswan. It also coordinates with some countries to lift ban on travelling to Egypt, and take part in the global touristic functions like the global conventions of reactivating the tourism, besides it is tendency to establish a fund to support the tourism activity.
The Egyptian premier elaborated that the tourism sector started to recover during the period from July 2012 till January 2013, the tourists numbers rose by 10.3%, the number of the touristic nights reached 102.7 million nights. Also the tourist’s average expense rate increased from $69.9 to $74.4 per night. And the revenues of the tourism sector went up to $ 7.6 billion.
