Egypt’s Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk was named African Finance Minister of the Year at the 15th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) 2025, held as part of the ALM Africa Summit in London, the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday.
The accolade, presented by African Leadership Magazine, recognises Minister Kouchouk’s outstanding leadership in navigating Egypt’s economic policy through a period marked by global uncertainty and regional transformation.” the magazine said in a statement.
“Under his stewardship, Egypt has implemented bold fiscal reforms, strengthened macroeconomic stability, and attracted robust international investment, positioning the country as a regional model of economic resilience and sustainable growth.” the magazine added.
In remarks at the ceremony, Minister Kouchouk thanked his colleagues at the ministry and its affiliated bodies for their commitment to advancing reforms that have stimulated economic activity. He credited the success of Egypt’s economic programme to coordination across the government’s economic team and a unified reform agenda.
The minister also highlighted Egypt’s improving macroeconomic indicators and growing investor confidence. He reiterated Cairo’s focus on empowering the private sector and boosting export-led growth, while stressing that Africa’s economic progress depends on deeper regional cooperation and investment partnerships.
Egypt has seen signs of macroeconomic recovery in recent months, with stabilising inflation, improving foreign reserves, and renewed interest from international investors following a series of asset sales and structural reforms.
No African country can move forward alone, Minister Kouchouk said. “Our collective success lies in collaboration across public and private sectors on the continent.”
