Egypt’s licensed vehicles reach 9.9m – CAPMAS
The number of licensed vehicles in Egypt edged up 0.04 per cent to 9.95 million vehicles at the end of 2023, according to a recent bulletin by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Cairo has the most licensed vehicles in Egypt, with 2.6 million, accounting for 26.2 percent of the total, according to the survey.
According to the research, Giza comes in second with 1.4 million automobiles, a 14% increase, while Alexandria comes in third with 731,400 vehicles, a 7.4% increase.
Private cars dominate the vehicle types, accounting for 94.3 per cent about 5.2 million cars of all licensed vehicles.
Taxis make up 5.6 per cent at 310,300 vehicles, while temporary car registrations are minimal at 284 vehicles.
Buses represent 1.7 per cent of registered vehicles, with private buses outnumbering public ones at 76,700 and 12,800, respectively.
Trucks and trailers contribute 1.3 million vehicles from the total count, with licensed trucks making up the majority at 1.2 million vehicles, and the trailers at 94,900 vehicles.
