Egypt’s Mashat meets Chinese business leaders to boost investment

Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al Mashat held a high-level meeting with Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Annual Meeting in China’s Tianjin.

The meeting brought together executives from major Chinese firms operating in the automotive, pharmaceutical, financial, and digital transformation sectors.

Mashat highlighted the strength of Egypt-China relations, describing the comprehensive strategic partnership launched in 2014 as a successful model for South-South cooperation.

She emphasised Egypt’s ongoing economic and structural reform programme, which aims to improve the investment climate, strengthen infrastructure, and encourage private sector engagement in priority sectors such as industry, renewable energy, ICT, and logistics.

China, she noted, is a key partner in this vision, as economic ties between the two countries continue to expand in both trade and investment. Egypt offers unique investment opportunities backed by its strategic location, free trade agreements, and business-friendly legislation.

The minister invited Chinese companies to explore Egypt as a gateway to African, Middle Eastern, and European markets, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting serious investors and building long-term partnerships aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030 goals for sustainable growth and green transition.
