Egypt’s METALCO developing a ventilator after Medtronic made designs available

Egypt’s METALCO, an affiliate to the public sector, announced that its  first prototype of a ventilator is currently being developed and designed after Medtronic PLC said it would publicly share the design specifications for a ventilator product

Medtronic, a global leader in medical technology, services, and solutions, allows other companies to explore producing it rapidly to help meet demand driven by the new coronavirus.

METALCO is expected to complete, test and approve the new ventilator product within two weeks, according to its head Medhat Nafea.

He added that the company aims to provide the local market with  new ventilator product at low cost with no aim for profits or financial gains.
