Egypt’s monthly inflation rates up 0.6% as meat, fruits prices increase
Egypt’s monthly inflation rate stood at 105.8 points in March, marking a 0.6 percent rise in comparison with February according to Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) monthly bulletin.
The monthly inflation rate stood at 105.2 points in February.
The annual inflation rate went down to 4.6 percent in March 2020, compared to 13.8 percent in the corresponding month last year.
The rise of the inflation rate was attributed to cigarettes prices by 5.4 percent, fruit by 3.7 percent, meat and poultry by 2.4 percent.
While, fish and seafood prices increased by 1.6 percent in March, cereals and bread by 0.5 percent, ready-made garments by 0.6 percents.
CAPMAS also pointed to a decrease in the prices of milk, cheese and eggs by 0.8% during March, as well as the prices of vegetables by 0.7 percent.
Prices of foodstuffs and beverage in March have rose by 0.8 percent compared with February.
