Egypt’s MSMEDA, ERRADA sign MoU to boost regulatory environment for SMEs, entrepreneurship
Egypt’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) has signed Tuesday a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian Regulatory Reform and Development Activity (ERRADA) to enhance the legislative and regulatory environment for entrepreneurship and small businesses.
The signing was witnessed by Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat.
The agreement seeks to assess the impact of Law No. 152 of 2020, which governs SMEs, and to strengthen institutional collaboration on policy development and regulatory improvement. According to a statement by the ministry of planning, the initiative forms part of Egypt’s broader strategy to support small enterprises, promote entrepreneurship, and drive sustainable economic growth.
Al-Mashat highlighted the sector’s importance as a key engine of innovation, productivity, and job creation, particularly for youth and women. She described the MoU as a step towards empowering entrepreneurs, enhancing competitiveness, and aligning Egypt’s SME sector with international standards.
MSMEDA CEO Basil Rahmy said the MoU would facilitate closer collaboration with ERRADA to support startups, improve decision-making, and optimise the legislative framework to help enterprises grow and thrive.
The partnership signals Egypt’s commitment to modernising its entrepreneurial ecosystem and fostering a business climate conducive to small and medium enterprise development.
