Egypt’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) has provided 17.4 billion Egyptian pounds in financing for women’s projects over the past decade, supporting 908,000 small and micro enterprises, according to a cabinet statement.
This funding, allocated between July 2014 and December 2024, represents 45 per cent of the total projects financed by MSMEDA. The financing has played a key role in creating 1.2 million job opportunities during this period.
Beyond direct financing, the statement highlighted that MSMEDA has also contributed to women’s economic empowerment by facilitating 18.7 million workdays through community development projects.
Moreover, 30 per cent of the agency’s marketing services were dedicated to women’s enterprises, while around 49,000 women received entrepreneurial training to develop their business skills and enhance their competitiveness.
In addition to financial support, MSMEDA provides women entrepreneurs with marketing assistance, digital promotion, and professional product photography to improve business profitability. Furthermore, the agency actively encourages women’s participation in local and central exhibitions, where they have accounted for approximately 55 per cent of exhibitors.
