Egypt’s Nasr Contracting wins $40m infrastructure project in Iraq – ministry

Egypt’s Nasr General Contracting (Hassan Allam), a subsidiary of the state-owned Holding Company for Construction and Development, has won a $40 million contract to execute a project for the South Refineries Company in Basra, Iraq,

According to a statement from the ministry of public business sector on Saturday, the project is part of the company’s strategy to expand its footprint in the Iraqi market. It comes amid growing Egyptian investment in regional infrastructure and energy projects.

The tender saw competition from multiple local and international firms, but the Hassan Allam consortium, in partnership with Sama Al Basra Company, secured the contract based on its technical expertise and track record in executing major projects in Egypt and abroad.

Minister of Public Business Sector Mohammed Sheemy said the project highlights the capabilities of Egypt’s state-owned companies in regional and international markets and represents a key step in strengthening Egypt’s presence in infrastructure and development projects across the region.

“The success opens new opportunities for national companies to expand internationally and participate in major projects that support the national economy,” Sheemy added.
