The Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) recognition has been renewed by the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) and the African Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC) in seven key accreditation fields. These include testing and calibration laboratories, medical analysis, certification bodies for management systems, products and personnel, and inspection bodies.
According to the Cabinet’s statement on Sunday, the council also extended its international recognition to cover producers of reference materials (RMPs). This step is expected to facilitate trade flows between Egypt and Arab and African countries. It will also support the growth of Egyptian exports in these markets.
The renewal followed a successful periodic on-site assessment. Evaluation experts reviewed the council’s operations and visited a number of accredited entities before granting approval.
The EGAC currently operates in 13 accreditation fields. This gives it one of the largest scopes among accreditation bodies worldwide. It holds both international and regional recognition, including from ARAC, AFRAC, and the European Accreditation (EA).
