Jordan’s Minister of Energy Hala Zawati said on Monday that Egyptian natural gas is expected to reach Jordan in January 2019, Reuters reported.
According to Zawati, the experimental pumping of natural gas between the two countries started in September 2018.
Zawati’s statements came on the sidelines of the Arab Mineral Resources Conference currently being hosted in Cairo.
The Jordanian minister added that Egypt and Jordan are holding talks to agree on a price for the Egyptian natural gas.
She also said that Jordan aims to increase its imports of natural gas from Egypt to meet its demand.
Jordan needs nearly 330 million cubic feet of natural gas per day to generate electricity.
