Egypt’s New Capital airport launches first international flight to Jeddah
Egypt’s Cairo Capital International Airport (CCE) in the New Capital marked a new milestone on Sunday, welcoming its first Air Cairo flight to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, the civil aviation said in a statement.
The launch signals the government’s ongoing efforts to develop the country’s aviation infrastructure and expand travel options beyond the congested Cairo International Airport.
The Airbus A320 carried 160 passengers on the inaugural flight, which is set to operate six times a week. The new route will not only provide easier access for travelers in the New Capital and surrounding regions but also help optimise the use of Egypt’s airport facilities, particularly during busy travel seasons.
“This step reflects our commitment to maximising the benefits of modern airports and facilitating convenient travel, while showcasing the operational readiness of Egypt’s aviation network,” said Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny.
Capital International Airport, with its modern infrastructure and strategic location, is emerging as a key hub in Egypt’s growing civil aviation system. The launch of Air Cairo flights from the airport complements the airline’s existing network from other major airports in the country.
Passengers on the first flight were greeted with a special reception, assistance with travel procedures, and guidance throughout the terminal, highlighting the airport and airline’s focus on safety, service, and a smooth travel experience.
