Egypt’s onion exports surge 20% in two months

Egypt’s exports of onion rose 20 percent in two months, said head of he Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine Ahmed Al Atar on Saturday.

 Egypt ranked third globally in 2019 in the exports of dried onion with a total of 13.6 tonnes.

In 2019, the exports recorded $ 30.4 million, representing 8.1 percent of the total global exports of dried onions last year, according to data released by the UN’s International Trade Center (ITC).

India comes first with exports amounting to $118 million while the U.S. comes second with $79-million.
