Egypt’s Orascom Development CEO Khaled Bichara dies in car accident
Chief executive of Egypt-based Orascom Development Holding Khaled Bichara, has died in a car accident on Friday.
Bichara, 48, was heading from the ring road towards al-Rimaya Square in Giza.
A graduate of the American University in Cairo (AUC), Bichara co-founded Accelero Capital, and worked as Group president and chief operating officer of VimpelCom Ltd (VimpelCom). He was also chief executive officer of Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E. (OTH) as well as chief operating officer of Wind Telecomunicazioni S.p.A. (Wind Italy), according to the Orascom Construction website.
He was co-founder and chairman and CEO of LINKdotNET.
Orascom Development Holding (ODH) is a major developer of “fully integrated destinations,” including hotels, residential units and leisure facilities such as golf courses, marinas and supporting infrastructure, according to the company’s website.
ODH operates in Egypt, UAE, Oman, Morocco, Montenegro, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, running a total of 33 hotels.
