Egypt’s Pharco to start testing three experimental drugs for coronavirus next month
Egypt’s drugmaker Pharco Pharmaceutical said on Wednesday it expects to begin testing three new drugs that could potentially treat coronavirus by early June.
Dr. Sherine Helmy, CEO of Pharco, said he hopes there would a coronavirus treatment available in Egypt by June 30, until testing on the three drugs yield results and, if successful, potential authorization obtained to start manufacturing.
To date, there is no approved drug for coronavirus disease, and drugmakers across the world are racing to produce a vaccine, which is expected to take 12 to 18 months.
