Egypt’s plastics exports recorded EGP 10.6 billion (US$1.3 million) at the end of 2014, marking a 21% growth from EGP 8.7 billion a year earlier.
In its latest report, the Egyptian Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council (CEC) said the Egyptian Indian Polyester Company (EIPET) topped the list of companies in exporting plastics products, registering EGP 1.5 billion (around US$ 197 million) by end of 2014.
Coming second, the Egyptian Propylene & Polypropylene Company attained total plastics exports of EGP 1.3 billion exports (US$ 170.4 million).
The report further added that the Egyptian Styrenics Co – EStyrenics achieved total plastics exports of EGP 946.8 million; whereas Sidi Kerir Petrochemical Co. (Sidpec) scored EGP 914.6 million.
Flex P Films Egypt was on the fifth position, capturing EGP 644.7 million of plastics exports. Sixth, Modern Packaging Co. – Technopack reported plastics exports of EGP 501 million.
Furthermore, Egypt’s top plastics importing countries during 2014 are Turkey (EGP2 billion), Italy (EGP 877.7 million), Belgium (EGP763.6 million), Iraq (EGP 531.7 million), and Spain (EGP497.5 million). Turkey has captured 31% of Egypt’s plastics exports, the report noted.
