Egypt’s PM explores deeper aviation partnership with Boeing

Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met Boeing President Brendan Nelson on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to discuss civil aviation cooperation and EgyptAir’s fleet modernisation, the Cabinet said on Tuesday.

Madbouly praised Boeing’s six-decade partnership with Egypt, citing the company as a key player in developing the country’s aviation sector. He highlighted EgyptAir’s agreement to lease 18 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft through US-based Air Lease Corporation, with the first delivery due in January 2026.

The prime minister said the deal reflects Egypt’s efforts to expand its aviation infrastructure, boost tourism, and create jobs, noting that civil aviation is central to the government’s economic growth strategy. He also welcomed further cooperation with Boeing, including faster delivery schedules.

Nelson reaffirmed Boeing’s commitment to Egypt and underscored strong US–Egypt relations, presenting the company’s latest aircraft portfolio and expressing interest in visiting Cairo for further talks.

Madbouly also pointed to the joint economic commission and plans for a new US–Egypt economic forum in 2026 as platforms to expand bilateral cooperation.
