Egypt’s PM follows up on health sector investment plans

Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Monday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare as a cornerstone of stability and development, the Cabinet said in a statement.

Chairing a meeting to follow up on health sector files, Madbouly said the government is preparing clear, well-defined investment opportunities to be offered to the private sector under structured partnership mechanisms.

Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said a comprehensive package of incentives has been finalised to support the establishment and operation of hospitals across several governorates. The ministry, in coordination with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), has developed a scoring system to prioritise projects for government backing.

Abdel Ghaffar said the initiative reflects Egypt’s strategy to ensure responsible and sustainable healthcare investment, aiming to expand coverage, reduce geographic disparities, and improve service quality.

Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk stressed that financial sustainability is essential to achieving universal health coverage and said the government is committed to international partnerships to expand services.
