Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inspected on Saturday the ongoing development works at Sphinx International Airport, as part of preparations for the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the Cabinet said.
The premier affirmed that Sphinx International Airport represents one of Egypt’s modern air gateways, strategically connecting western Cairo to archaeological and tourist destinations, the statement added.
He underscored its growing importance as the GEM opening approaches, describing the museum as a global cultural landmark expected to attract millions of visitors worldwide, as stated in the announcement.
Madbouly noted the airport’s prime location near the Giza Pyramids and GEM makes it a pivotal hub for receiving official delegations and tourists, reinforcing its role as a key air gateway supporting Egypt’s tourism and travel sector.
The prime minister inspected international and domestic departure and arrival halls, including counters for immigration, customs, and baggage handling systems. He also checked the presidential and VIP lounges, ensuring they are equipped to provide the highest levels of comfort and services that reflect Egypt’s cultural standing.
He stressed the importance of maintaining continuous upkeep of the airport’s facilities and services, emphasising quality reception for all visitors, swift handling of procedures, and permanent presence of officials to resolve any obstacles promptly.
