Egypt’s PM: Jirian Project built on unsuitable farmland in Delta Plan
Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly defended the country’s newly public-private partnership real estate project Jirian on Wednesday, saying it is being developed on land found unsuitable for cultivation as part of the country’s New Delta agricultural initiative.
During a press conference, Prime Minister Madbouly said the project was designed to make use of water infrastructure already directed to the New Delta, one of Egypt’s flagship food security ventures. “We discovered that part of the land was not arable, so we decided to allocate it for real estate development,” he said.
The Jirian project, located along the Sheikh Zayed Axis, is being developed under a strategic partnership between the government’s Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority and a consortium of top private developers; Palm Hills Developments, Mountain View, and Nations of Sky.
The deal was signed at the Cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital earlier this week, with officials touting the project as a model of public-private cooperation aimed at advancing Egypt’s smart, eco-friendly urban expansion goals.
The project is expected to feature sustainable and technologically advanced design, positioning it as a new milestone in Egypt’s ongoing drive toward green urban development.
