Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly visited on Monday the National Vegetable Oil Company facility in New Borg El-Arab city as part of a tour of industrial projects in Alexandria Governorate, the Cabinet reported.
The company reached its peak production capacity of two million tons per year in 2021, under SOYVEN’s leadership, achieving self-sufficiency and generating surplus soybean oil and meal for export to close Egypt’s vegetable oil import gap.
Madbouly highlighted the role a strong oil industry plays in fulfilling local market needs, reducing import reliance, and fostering a stronger connection between agriculture and industrial sectors.
Minister of Trade and Industry reaffirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing domestic vegetable oil production and strengthening the national industry. This supports the state’s overall strategy to develop key industries and reduce imports.
