Egypt’s PM orders inclusive roadmap to modernise national media system

Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly has convened a meeting with media persons to follow up on directives from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to establish a comprehensive roadmap for developing the country’s media system. The plan aims to ensure that national media keeps pace with global changes while fulfilling its role in line with the vision of modern Egypt and the new republic.

The Prime Minister directed the immediate implementation of the instructions of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to draw up this roadmap. He stressed that the working group should include all experts and specialists, with no single entity having sole responsibility for preparing the required roadmap to develop the Egyptian media system.

The meeting discussed the mechanism for developing the roadmap, underlining the need to involve specialists from state institutions, universities, research centres, and related fields, including psychology and sociology. The roadmap will be designed to address the political, economic, and social dimensions of Egyptian society.

Officials also emphasised the importance of training programmes for media professionals to ensure adherence to professional standards, accuracy of information, and reliance on verified government data to prevent the spread of false news.

Media councils and authorities affirmed their commitment to supporting media personnel and expertise. They highlighted that both senior journalists and young professionals will play a role in shaping the final vision for a modernised and effective media system.
