Egypt’s PM reviews efforts to reform subsidy system

Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a meeting with Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk to review efforts to reform and monitor the country’s subsidy system to ensure aid reaches those in need.

Discussions focused on restructuring subsidies by adding eligible beneficiaries and removing ineligible recipients.

Farouk emphasised that the government is implementing policies to enhance transparency, prevent misuse, and maximise resource efficiency.

The minister highlighted the role of digital tools and monitoring systems in improving data accuracy and ensuring social protection while maintaining economic sustainability and market stability.
