Egypt’s PM reviews energy strategies in supreme council meeting

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly chaired a meeting of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Energy on Tuesday to review strategies to secure energy supplies from multiple sources in line with the government’s sustainable development goals.

According to a Cabinet statement, the talks focused on expanding cooperation with international companies and private investors to develop energy projects, particularly in renewables, as Cairo seeks to diversify its energy mix, meet growing power demand and support industry and agriculture.

The council also reviewed projects carried out with local firms and global partners to upgrade electricity generation and distribution networks, cut energy losses and improve efficiency, the statement added.
