Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a meeting on Monday with Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk to review the availability of agricultural fertilisers and the digital governance system regulating their distribution.
The discussion focused on efforts to improve fertiliser governance via the “Farmer’s Smart Card” system, ensuring direct delivery from plants to cooperatives and preventing smuggling, with subsidies reaching eligible farmers.
Officials highlighted progress in digitising agricultural services, with a tracking system monitoring fertiliser flow from factories to cooperatives to ensure timely, efficient delivery to farmers.
During the meeting, officials confirmed fertiliser availability at rural cooperatives, with smooth batch distribution via the smart card system to ensure balanced sector coverage.
Sufficient stocks are maintained in warehouses of credit, reform, and reclaimed land associations, as well as the Egyptian Company for Agricultural and Rural Development under the Agricultural Bank.
